Vignette recently teamed up with UNICEF Syria to produce a series of videos that highlight the rights of children as articulated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
As we couldn’t easily film inside Syria, we had to work with the country office to tell children’s stories through a unique mix of animation, audio and short video clips.
We approached Syrian filmmakers with experience working on human rights issues. They helped us identify children to feature in a series of short animated videos on topics that included:
- Torture, landmines and violence
- Food and nutrition
- Child labor
- Health services
- Recruitment of children for use in armed conflict
- Clean water access
Through these animated videos, the children describe key moments in their young lives in which their basic rights were curbed. The results are powerful.
