Women journalists grants – apply now!

Today I wanted to highlight grants and awards that are specifically geared towards women journalists and photographers. Some of these deadlines are imminent, but all of them are worth applying for if you fit the criteria. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many grants/awards out there for women photographers simultaneously and it’s incredibly inspiring. Some of the deadlines are in the next 24 hours, and others are at the end of the month so apply quickly!

 

Canon Female Photojournalist Award

Due: May 17

Open to:  “applicants must be female – applicants must have completed at least one photo-reportage (published or unpublished) – applicants must be professional photojournalists”

Rules

Award: €8,000

IWMF Reporting Grants for Women’s Stories

Due: May 16 before midnight EST

Open to: “Women journalists from anywhere in the world are eligible to apply.”

How to enter

Grant: $5,000

Women Photograph + Pulitzer Center Grant

Due: May 20, 5pm EST

Open to: “These grants are open to female, female-identifying, and non-binary documentary photographers of any nationality.”

How to apply

Grant: $5,000

Women Photograph + ONA Grant

Due: May 20, 5pm EST

Open to: Emerging photographers – “These grants are open to female, female-identifying, and non-binary documentary photographers of any nationality.”

How to apply

Grant: $2,500

Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award

Due: May 26, 5pm GMT

Open to: “a professional woman photographer towards the initiation or completion of a compelling and cohesive documentary photo essay which addresses an important social, environmental, economic or cultural issue, whether local or global.”

How to apply

Award: £1,000

Women in Photography Grant

Due: May 30, 11:59pm EST

Open to: “Open to women artists (cisgender and transgender) both U.S. and International. Please note that you must be at least 18 years old to apply and that currently matriculated students are ineligible.”

How to apply

Grant: $5,000

Getty Images Editorial Grant

Due: May 15 before midnight GMT

Open to:  “Applicants must be at least 18 years old and presently engaged as a professional photojournalist”

Terms and Conditions

Grant: $10,000

Camille Lepage Award

Due: May 16

Open to: “There is no age limit or restriction on nationality or gender. The Applicant shall be a photographer working as a photojournalist, wishing to do a report, alone, on a social, economic, political or cultural story. The story submitted shall be a report already initiated and featuring a strong personal commitment in a specific context, e.g. to a country, community or cause.”

Rules

Award: €8,000

Dorothea Lange-Paul Taylor Prize

Due: May 22

Open to: “Single documentary artists or collaborative teams working with text/audio/photographs/video/graphic novel format may apply… There are no restrictions on the age and nationality of applicants.”

How to enter

Prize: $10,000

Eugene Smith Memorial Fund

Due: May 31

Open to: everyone, professional or amateur, but project must have already been started.

Submission guidelines

Grant: $30,000
